The Eugene Poddany papers consist of original musical scores that he composed, arranged, and directed, as well as original scores from other contemporary composers (Elmer Bernstein, Morton Scott, Paul Smith, Carl Stalling, Herman Stein, and Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco). These scores include work for the Tom & Jerry Show, the Woody the Woodpecker Show, "The Dot and the Line," "How the Grinch Stole Christmas," "Horton Hears a Who!", other animated productions, and television commercials.

Eugene Poddany was a composer and music director. He was born in Hardin, China and graduated from Hollywood High School in 1937. He studied music composition and orchestration with Ernest Toch and Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco. In the early 1940s he toured Europe while directing a classical orchestra. When he returned to America he started writing music for motion picture cartoons.
